Th-местоимения могут также употребляться с whoever, с who и с существительными типа a person, people. Например:
Whoever comes, tell them to go away;
"Why are you so touchy?" Who wouldn't be touchy? Eva thought. Who wouldn't be, when they were in love with a man, like a hopeless disease, and they did not even know where he was today while they were out of town? (Di.);
If you hear a lot about a person, you can form some sort of idea of them, some judgement of them (С.).
Вместо замены th-местоимением существительное типа a person может быть повторено. Например:
If a person doesn't know how to do something, a person should just admit it, don't you think (В.).
В книжно-письменном стиле существительные типа a person употребляются не с th-местоимениями, а с he or she, he, him и his, причем последние три необязательно обозначают мужчину. Ср.:
